We are a Not-for-Profit Society. We are working in conjunction with the communities in the Central Kootenay Area B region. We have been expanding to include other communities with similar Rural lifestyle challenges. We have found individuals with the drive and determination to make a difference within their communities. We will be assessing our needs and planning for our future at the same time realizing we have a diverse group of communities involved in the process. It will be communities helping communities! That is how we will be able to accomplish our collective goal and be able to sustain our rural way of life in the process.

Juice - Fabrication of Innovative Juice Processors
Gary & Susan Snow (L.W. Truscott Farms) are cherry growers in Creston, B.C. Currently, 20% of their crops are being thrown away as culls in landfills and on the orchard floor. Much of this fruit is useable for value-added products. Because of the current waste of culled fruit and the consumers demand for healthy foods they have fabricated a juice processor to create food products that are a source of anthocyanins and antioxidants. The utilization of culled fruit would reduce waste, create jobs in Creston, and provide financial stability to the farmers.

' Monika & Jim Currier of Grizzly Basin Ranch '
Local Breeder Realizes Success with US Dressage Federation

The United States Dressage Federation is the only national membership organization (in the US) dedicated to dressage, a method of horse training in existence since ancient Greece and an Olympic sport since the inception of the modern Olympics in the late 1800's.

The USDF hosts numerous shows across the US and tests thousands of horses from their first Walk/Trot classes to the complicated Grand Prix level. The scores of all the horses are documented and tallied at the end of the year.

December 2-6 2009, in Austin Texas, the USDF held their annual convention and awards banquet. The awards banquet was well attended with Olympians such as Jan Brink from Sweden, Debbie MacDonald and Steffan Peters from the US, as well as a slew of talented riders, judges, breeders and prestigious owners.

Amongst the many awards  and Olympic champions, a special red and white pinto mare was on the list as National Year End  RPSI Training Level Adult Amatuer Champion, and Open reserve champion against the professionals.

The mare's name is GBR Ginger Snap and she was bred by Jim and Monika Currier of Grizzly Basin Ranch, Yahk BC. Ginger now resides in Elizabeth Colorado with her now owner/rider Michelle Anderson.

The Currier's were honored to attend the Awards Banquet and be recognized as this impressive mares' breeders.  “Ginger” is an example of 15 years of hard work and paying attention to the details.
